WHAT IS Lortab, Vicodin?

  • Hydrocodone (refers to codeine) is a class of narcotic analgesics. This is an anesthetic drug.
  • Acetaminophen is a weaker anesthetic that enhances the action of hydrocodone.
  • Hydrocodone and acetaminophen are designed to relieve severe pain.
  • Vicodin can be used for other purposes not mentioned in this manual.

 

WHAT SHOULD I DISCUSS WITH THE DOCTOR BEFORE RECEPTION OF THE PREPARATION?

  • Before you start taking the medication, tell your doctor if you have
  • alcohol or drug dependence;
  • kidney disease;
  • liver disease;
  • asthma;
  • urinary retention;
  • enlarged prostate;
  • hypothyroidism;
  • seizures or epilepsy;
  • gallbladder disease;
  • head injury; or

Addison’s disease.

  • You will not be able to take Vicodin, or you will need a dose adjustment and special supervision during treatment if you suffer from one of the above diseases.
  • Vicodin belongs to the F category of the FDA for pregnancy. This means that the harmful effect of the drug on the fetus is not proven. Do not take Vicodin if you are pregnant without first consulting a doctor.
  • Vicodin penetrates into breast milk. Do not take medication if you are a nursing mother, without consulting a doctor in advance.
  • If you are under the age of 18 or over 60, you are more likely to experience side effects of Vicodin. Your doctor may prescribe you a reduced dose of the drug.

 

Mode of application

 

  • Take Lortab, Vicodin exactly as prescribed by your doctor. To clarify the indications for use, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Each dose should be washed with a full glass of water.
  • If Lortab, Vicodin causes indigestion, drugs should be taken with milk or along with a meal.
  • To check the correctness of the dose, measure the solution with a measuring spoon, pipette or measuring cup, and not with a regular tablespoon. If you do not have a measuring spoon, ask the pharmacist where it can be purchased.
  • Hydrocodone is addictive. When taking this drug, physical and psychological dependence arises. Do not exceed the prescribed dose and do not take the drug for longer than the specified time. With a sharp cessation after several weeks of constant admission, an abstinence effect may occur. The doctor can recommend a gradual reduction in the dose of the drug.
  • Lortab, Vicodin can cause constipation. It is recommended to drink plenty of water (six to eight glasses of water a day) to reduce the side effect. Avoid constipation will help the abundance of fiber in the daily diet.
  • Store the drug at room temperature in a cool dry place.

 

What happens if I miss the drug?

  • Take the medicine as soon as you remember. Do not take a double dose of this medication. You should wait for the next dose of the drug.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE OCCURRENCE OF OVERDOSE OF THE PREPARATION?

  • In case of a possible overdose, consult a doctor immediately.
  • Symptoms of Lortab, Vicodin overdose include rare breathing, convulsions, dizziness, weakness, unconsciousness, coma, confusion, fatigue, cold and damp skin, pupillary narrowing, nausea, vomiting and sweating.

 

 

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

  • Avoid alcohol when taking Vicodin. Alcohol can increase drowsiness and dizziness caused by the drug, which in turn can lead to loss of consciousness and death. Acetaminophen in combination with alcohol is detrimental to the liver.
  • Vicodin can increase the effect of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines and painkillers, anti-anxiety drugs, anticonvulsants and muscle relaxants. The simultaneous administration of Vicodin with the above drugs may lead to a dangerous sedative effect, dizziness or drowsiness. Tell your doctor about all medications you are taking, and do not prescribe medication yourself without consulting a doctor.
  • Care must be taken when driving, operating industrial equipment or performing other hazardous work. Hydrocodone can cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you experience a similar condition, refrain from dangerous activities.
  • Acetaminophen may be contained in other drugs, especially in over-the-counter analgesics, anti-cold and anti-allergic drugs. Do not take other drugs that contain acetaminophen without consulting your doctor. Excessive use of acetaminophen can be dangerous.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF Lortab, Vicodin?

  • Stop taking the drug immediately and consult a doctor if you experience the following serious side effects:
  • an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, narrowing of the airways, swelling of the lips, tongue, face, or rash);
  • Rare, weak breathing;
  • convulsions;
  • Cold, damp skin;
  • severe weakness or dizziness;
  • loss of consciousness;

Yellowing of the skin and eyes; or

  • Increased fatigue, bleeding, or bruising.
  • Rather, there may be other, less serious side effects. Continue taking the medication and tell your doctor if you have
  • constipation;
  • dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite;
  • dizziness, tiredness or a feeling of emptiness in the head;
  • muscle cramps;
  • Sweating;
  • itching;
  • difficulty urinating or
  • decreased sexual desire.

INTERACTION OF Lortab, Vicodin WITH OTHER PREPARATIONS

  • Do not take the drug if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors), such as isocarboxazide (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate) or phenelzine (Nardil) for the last 14 days. There may be dangerous side effects.
  • Vicodin can increase the effect of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines and painkillers, anti-anxiety drugs, anticonvulsants and muscle relaxants. The simultaneous administration of Vicodin with the above drugs may lead to a dangerous sedative effect, dizziness or drowsiness. Tell your doctor about all medications you are taking, and do not prescribe medication yourself without consulting a doctor.
