Uses of Concerta
The drug is used as a weak psychostimulant for asthenic conditions, increased fatigue, the treatment of attention deficit disorder, as well as in the suppression of the nervous system. Because of the side effects in many countries withdrawn from the circulation of medicines. Slang names Methylphenidate: diet pills, clever tablets, pills for vivacity, vitamin P, calyx, vitamins, children’s cocaine. The effect of methylphenidate (Concerta) is similar to amphetamine and cocaine, but it has a less potent stimulating effect and less influence on peripheral adrenergic systems. Due to the fact that it was very often used to treat attention deficit disorder in children, it was also called children’s cocaine. Due to the general availability of Methylphenidate until recently, drug addicts also did not ignore him. What is the difference between CONCERTA VS RITALIN
Consequences of the use of Concerta:
The mechanism of the physiological action of methylphenidate is not fully understood. It is believed that the drug activates the cerebral cortex, by concentrating extracellular dopamine. This increases the concentration of norepinephrine and provokes a stimulating effect. This partly explains the antidepressant effect of methylphenidate. When taking doses that exceed therapeutic, Concerta causes changeable aggressive behavior, hallucinations, irritability, panic, psychosis (suicide), pupils dilated, and significant doses can lead to convulsions, death. Complications arising from the use of Concerta (methylphenidate) are due to insoluble excipients used in tablets. Regular intake of methylphenidate causes, above all, psychological dependence. The constant use of the drug in large doses also leads to the development of tolerance and physical dependence on it. The withdrawal syndrome (abstinence) is expressed in apathy, increased sleep duration, depression and irritability. Adderall can also be used to treat ADHD.
Signs of Concerta:
When taking the drug observed: suppressed appetite, increased concentration and attention, euphoria, nausea, insomnia, sometimes anxiety and agitation, exacerbation of psychopathological symptoms. In case of an overdose of the drug, convulsions, hyperthermia, tachycardia, hallucinations, hyperexcitability, emotional imbalance, mydriasis (strong dilatation of the pupils), epileptic seizures and headaches are possible. When the drug is overdosed several times – intense hallucinations, comparable to hallucinations from cocaine, arterial hypertension, intracranial hemorrhages, destruction of blood vessels and brain damage. Death is possible.
